Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 21, 2026 · Version 1.1
These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Expense, LLC ("Expense", "we", "us"), a North Carolina limited liability company. They govern your use of:
- the Expense browser extension (the "Extension"),
- the Expense websites and web application — expense.cash, app.expense.cash, and our API at api.expense.cash (together, the "Sites"),
collectively, the "Service".
By installing the Extension, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using it you represent that you are, and when you create an account you confirm it explicitly. The Service is offered only in the United States, to people located in the United States. It is not offered to, marketed to, or intended for residents of the European Union, the United Kingdom, or any other country, and you may not use it from outside the United States.
2. The Service
Expense is a price-comparison tool: the Extension detects the product you are viewing and shows comparable listings from AliExpress alongside the price you are already looking at; the web app offers the same search directly. The Service is currently free and access is invite-only — accounts require an invite code, and we may change, limit, or discontinue the invite program (and any other part of the Service) at any time.
Expense is a comparison and referral tool only. We are not a store, marketplace, payment processor, or agent of any merchant.
3. Your Account
- Provide a valid email address and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- One account per person. Accounts are for your personal use and may not be sold, shared, or transferred.
- Invite codes may only be shared as we permit and may not be sold, published, or redeemed in bulk. We may revoke unused invite codes at any time.
- For your protection, a one-time login code or password-reset link is cancelled after five incorrect attempts. If that happens, you can request a new one.
- Tell us promptly at support@expense.cash if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. How Expense Makes Money — Affiliate Disclosure
Expense is funded by affiliate commissions: when you click an outbound link in the Service to AliExpress and complete a purchase, AliExpress pays Expense a commission. This is why comparison links from the Service carry Expense's affiliate tracking. A commission never increases the price you pay. We display comparisons based on relevance to your search — never on commission — filtered, where the page's price is in a currency we can compare, to listings priced below the price you are viewing; we do not accept payment from merchants for placement. Affiliate tracking appears only on comparison results we render: Expense never rewrites, appends to, or replaces links or affiliate codes already on the pages you visit, never sets or modifies shopping or affiliate cookies, and applies its affiliate link only when you click it. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what purchase data reaches us (it does not include your name, address, or payment details).
5. Prices and Product Information
Prices, discounts, shipping estimates, availability, and other product information shown in the Service come from third parties (principally AliExpress's product APIs) and are informational only. They can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and can change between the moment we show them and the moment you check out. Always verify the final price, shipping cost, seller, and product details on the merchant's site before buying. We do not guarantee that any listing represents the same product, that any price or discount will be honored, or that using the Service will save you money.
6. Purchases Are Between You and the Merchant
Any purchase you make after clicking through the Service is a transaction solely between you and AliExpress and/or the merchant selling there. Expense is not a party to it. We have no role in — and no responsibility or liability for — payment, order fulfillment, shipping, customs, taxes, returns, refunds, warranties, product safety, or customer service. Direct any dispute about a purchase to the merchant or AliExpress.
7. No Affiliation With AliExpress
Expense is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected with AliExpress, Alibaba Group, or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates, nor with any storefront, platform, or merchant the Extension detects. All product names, marks, and logos — including AliExpress and Alibaba marks — are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the goods and services they designate.
8. License and Acceptable Use
We grant you a personal, non-commercial, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Extension and to use the Sites, subject to these Terms. You agree not to:
- access the Service by any automated means, or scrape, harvest, or bulk-download data from it;
- probe, overload, or interfere with the Service, or circumvent its security, rate limits, invite system, or access controls;
- use another person's account or credentials, or misrepresent your affiliation with Expense;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or data obtained from it;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the Service except to the extent the law permits notwithstanding this term;
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or in violation of AliExpress's or any merchant's applicable terms;
- manipulate or abuse the affiliate mechanism (for example, generating fraudulent clicks or orders).
We may throttle, suspend, or block access that we reasonably believe violates this section.
9. Intellectual Property; Feedback
The Service — including the Extension's code, the Sites, our name, logo, and design — is owned by Expense, LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property law. These Terms grant you no rights other than the license in Section 8. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service depends on and links to services we do not control — including the Chrome Web Store, Cloudflare, AliExpress, and the storefronts you browse. Their terms and privacy policies govern your use of them, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, or conduct.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy — which describes what we collect and how we use it — is incorporated into these Terms by reference and forms part of your agreement with us.
12. Availability and Changes to the Service
The Service is provided on an early-access, invite-only basis. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features — or discontinue the Service entirely — at any time, with or without notice. We do not promise that the Service will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from the web app's Settings page, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access (including revoking your account or invite) at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, create risk for us or others, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections 4–9 and 14–18 survive termination.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR AVAILABILITY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE MAKE NO WARRANTY THAT PRICE OR PRODUCT INFORMATION IS ACCURATE OR CURRENT, THAT COMPARISONS IDENTIFY THE SAME PRODUCT, OR THAT USING THE SERVICE WILL RESULT IN SAVINGS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) EXPENSE, LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, LOST DATA, OR PURCHASES MADE FROM THIRD-PARTY MERCHANTS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY; AND (b) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US $100). THE SERVICE IS FREE; THIS ALLOCATION OF RISK IS A CONDITION OF PROVIDING IT WITHOUT CHARGE. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
16. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold harmless Expense, LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right. We will notify you of any claim subject to this indemnity and may control its defense; this indemnity does not apply where prohibited by law.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at support@expense.cash and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally. Any claim that is not resolved informally must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court where permitted. To the extent permitted by law, any claim relating to the Service must be filed within one year of the events giving rise to it.
18. General
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect, and the provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Expense about the Service and supersede prior agreements.
- Electronic communications. You consent to receive notices from us electronically — at the email address on your account or by notice in the Service — and agree that electronic notices satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing.
- No waiver. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms create no rights in anyone other than you and Expense.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date and version number above always reflect the current revision, and the current version is always published at www.expense.cash/terms; previous versions are available on request. If we make a material change — for example to the license, the liability terms, or how disputes are handled — we will notify you before it takes effect, by email if you have an account and/or by a notice in the Extension or web app. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the Service.
